Hobbiton, Coromandel & Northland

On April 7th, a real highlight awaited us: the tour of the Lord of the Rings film set (Hobbiton). In a two-hour tour, we were able to visit the Shire and admire a real hobbit house. Henry loved it there, he immediately seemed much bigger 😅

Because Henry was very tired after the exciting visit there, we used his bedtime to drive to the Coromandel Peninsula.

There we visited the towns of Whangamata, Tairua, Whitianga, Coromandel and Thames. The weather was great and there were many great beaches.

We continued north - with a pit stop in Auckland (Taranaki Drive & Parnell). Unfortunately, the weather has been very stormy since last night. We swapped our originally planned overnight spot right by the sea for a sheltered alternative. Luckily, we found a French press in a second-hand shop - the one that was part of our camper equipment had not survived a sharp bend 😀
