Road trip Day 4 / Kakadu National Park

Weşandin: 20.09.2017

Early in the morning at 8 o'clock we went to the parking lot about 1 km away, from there we wanted to go see a waterfall. The road to the camp was already 6 km of gravel road, the last km we had to drive through sand. But our Maxi managed this easily (even with rear-wheel drive only). Saw a kangaroo family right at the camp, which of course made us very happy.

From the parking lot it was 3 km over rocks, sand and a river to the Maguk waterfall. On the way we saw kangaroos again. The waterfall was a beautiful place, but we only went into the water briefly and only where we could see the bottom. Because at any body of water that is open for swimming, there could still be a crocodile. Met two German backpackers there and talked a lot and exchanged tips. After a joint way back to the parking lot, Padi checked out their car. It actually has high oil consumption and new tires would also be recommended, especially since they want to drive the Gibb River Road.

We received the tip about the Gunlom waterfall, so we went straight there. After another 60 km in the south and 45 km of off-road driving, we arrived at Gunlom. A magical place!
