Canada Day 17 - White Water Rafting in Scotch Creek

Weşandin: 11.10.2018

We spontaneously booked the rafting tour we participated in today yesterday evening. The meeting point, Scotch Creek, was another hour's drive from Kamloops. The day seemed perfect, it was already warm in the morning and the sky was bright blue.

When we arrived at the destination, we had to wait briefly for all participants before we were taken to the starting point of our rafting tour by an old school bus. There we received instructions, squeezed ourselves into neoprene suits despite the heat, and were then divided into three boats. The neoprene suits were necessary because of the icy cold water, because even at these outside temperatures, you could easily freeze in the water. The ride started and since this was my first rafting tour, I was a bit excited. It was both scary and fun on the rapids, as there was also the danger of falling out of the boat. The river water was a welcome cooling and you also had your workout included. In between, we even stopped on the shore and whoever wanted to could float in the icy cold water. But it wasn't possible to endure for long, the cold air cut off your breath!

We were on the water for about 1 hour in total. In my opinion, for the price of 70 dollars, it might be a bit short, but for the first time it was okay. Rafting was definitely a lot of fun and we definitely want to do it again sometime. Really great! Unfortunately, I couldn't take any photos of the trip.

Since we had a lot of time after the excursion, we went to Kamloops Lake. Unfortunately, it wasn't free, the only access we could find went through a beach club where you had to pay an entrance fee. We paid and made ourselves comfortable. However, we didn't go into the water here either, it was too cold again!

In the evening, we briefly considered trying the Sunset Trail again. However, it was way too hot and we didn't really feel like it. Besides, we were already completely bitten and didn't want to get eaten again. So we made ourselves comfortable in the room in front of the television and rested well before continuing to Harrison Hot Spring tomorrow.
