After a sleepover in Medellin, we drove to Guatapé.
The city or big village? is super cute with many beautiful houses and streets lined with flowers.
The Main Square is surrounded by cafes and restaurants, but there are also some souvenir shops hidden here and there.
After our arrival, we treated ourselves to a mandarin juice here and walked along the lake.
In the evening, we cooked again for a long time - Spaghetti Bolognese, we haven't had that in a while :P
The next day, we rented a scooter and drove to San Rafael, which is 45 minutes away from Guatapé and 1000m lower - so it's all downhill. The road was sometimes a bit collapsed towards the slope, which didn't give us the safest feeling, but it held up :D
San Rafael is in the 'jungle area' - in other words, everything around it is green. On the way, we were recommended a waterfall, where we made a stop on the way back. The path there took 20 minutes on gravel with the scooter, which was not very comfortable to drive. In the end, it was very beautiful and calm at the waterfall with only one other family.
After that, we drove back to Guatapé, my butt was already hurting from sitting on the scooter, Tom wanted to take an extra lap. So he started driving with my phone to take photos...
And somewhere in between, it got lost and a car must have run over it until Tom found it again :( So now it's not really a functioning phone anymore, as Tom's also shuts off at 60%.
The next day we took the typical excursion to El Peñol - a big stone or mountain, with around 700 steps - from where you have a 360-degree view of the surrounding lakes.
For us, the path to the actual steps felt more exhausting than the actual steps.
After about 30 minutes, we reached the summit and could enjoy the view.
After lunch with a view of the surroundings, we returned to the hostel with one of the triciclettas, which we had also wanted to do for a long time.
The rest of the time until the flight to Santa Marta the next day will be relaxing only ;)
