Hi guys,
in the last report I wrote about how happy we are to go to Palenque, because of the 'stress' in Mexico City ... Why? because nobody is busy there. Palenque is a small town in the middle of the jungle. Actually, we would have liked to go to Oaxca to buy a hammock and then go to Palenque to sleep there in a hostel in that hammock. But now in Oaxca there are many demonstrations and it's very complicated to go there by public transportation, so we decided to fly from Mexico City to Palenque.
Once we arrived there, we went to the said Mayabell Hostel and borrowed a hammock for two nights. The first night in such a hammock is not quite easy. In the second night, at least I (Luci) slept better because I had exactly two perfect sleeping positions.
Our hotel was quite close to the ruins of Palenque, which of course we visited. But the hot and humid temperatures are not so easy for us to handle, so we welcome any opportunity to cool down at the pool.
Then on the 13th of July, we continued our journey to Mérida by night bus. Mérida is also a small city, but there is more to visit in the city center, such as museums or basilicas. Among other things, we bought the long-awaited hammocks there, which we will definitely hang up for relaxation at the beach.
On the 15th of July, we took a day trip to the next temple complex 'Chichen Itza'. The complex was bigger, but personally I (Luci) liked the ruins in Palenque better, but that's a matter of taste. We ended our last evening in Mérida with a visit to a bar.
With love, your Egger Girls
HI guys,
In the last report I wrote that we are so happy to go to Palenque because of the 'stress' in Mexico City. Why? because nobody is busy there. Palenque is a small town in the middle of a jungle. Actually, we would have liked to go to Oaxca to buy a hammock and then go to Palenque to sleep there in a hotel with your own hammock. But now in Oaxca, there are many demonstrations and it's very complicated to go there by public transportation, so we decided to fly from Mexico City to Palenque.
Our hotel was very close to the ruins of Palenque, so we visited them. But we can't handle the hot temperature, so we spent the afternoon by the pool. The night in our hotel was very complicated because we rented two hammocks and slept there during the night. I can tell you, that was an experience. And it's not so easy to sleep in one of those hammocks. But anyway, we had fun.
On the 13th of July, we took a night bus to Merida. Merida is also a small city, but you can do more there than in Palenque. You can visit museums or basilicas. Oh, and we bought our own hammocks. I'm sure we will use them in Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
On the 15th of July, we went on a day trip to the next temple area, which is called 'Chichen Itza'. The area was bigger than in Palenque, but I (Luci) prefer the ruins in Palenque. But that's my own opinion 😉 We enjoyed our last night in one of the bars in Merida.
