On the way to Vietnam, I made a stopover in Kampot. Actually, I didn't plan to go there, but since many people raved about it, I changed my mind. And it was worth it, it was the most beautiful place in Cambodia for me!
In the city, there are many beautiful buildings from the colonial era as well as great little shops and restaurants. The surroundings of Kampot are green, with mountains, lakes, a large national park, and many plantations. Kampot is known for its pepper, which is considered one of the best in the world. Additionally, the region is the main producer of the 'stinky fruit' Durian. It even has a roundabout dedicated to it in the center of the city. :-)
I participated in a paddleboarding tour in Kampot, which was a lot of fun. We paddled through small canals, went swimming, and watched the sunset.
Furthermore, I visited one of the largest pepper plantations, 'La Plantation'. Here, you can join a free tour and also taste the different varieties of pepper.
In hindsight, I regret not staying longer in Kampot!
