In Ha Tien, I crossed the border into Vietnam. Fortunately, it went relatively quickly because we arrived there just before six o'clock and the border officials probably didn't feel like working overtime. Then we continued with the night bus to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). However, on the way, I remembered that I forgot to include the Mekong Delta in my plans, so upon arrival in Saigon, I immediately boarded the next bus and drove the same route back for five hours. Silly me... ;-) The bus ride was also one of the worst! The damn bus driver honked the horn the whole time (and I mean the whole time!). It was so loud and annoying that I was boiling with anger! But luckily, at some point, that was over too!
When I arrived in Can Tho, I wanted to explore the city a bit. But it was incredibly hot and humid, so in the early afternoon, I retreated to my air-conditioned hotel room with a few beers and chips and watched a movie for the rest of the day. It was wonderful! :-)
The next day, we went to the floating market in Cai Rang at five o'clock in the morning. Mostly fruits and vegetables are sold here. The goods that each boat has to offer (such as pineapples or watermelons) are displayed on long poles above the boats, so everyone knows from a distance which ship they need to approach. It was interesting to see how it all works.
We also had breakfast at the market, noodles soup and super sweet coffee.
Afterwards, we took a tour through some branches of the Mekong. From the boat, we could wonderfully observe the life on the river.
In the end, it was a good decision to go back to Can Tho again! ;-)
