10th April.
The day before, we drove all the way from Port Douglas to Cairns because we were signed up for a tour to the Atherton Tablelands. Since we had already been to this national park on our own, we found it a bit unnecessary from the beginning, but we couldn't cancel it.
At 8 o'clock in the morning, we were at the pickup point on time. The first and second bus arrived, but none from our company. When we called to ask how it looks, we were told that the bus had a breakdown. Since the fault lies with the organizer, we get our money back.
But that also means the trip to Cairns was completely pointless. We drove past Palm Cove and Port Douglas and continued north to the Daintree Rainforest.
We had to cross a river with a ferry and then we were already in the rainforest. Our first stop was the lookout at Mount Alexandra.
We spent the whole afternoon walking along different trails and admiring the amazing palms with round leaves or the mangroves. We felt that there was life everywhere around us in the green tangle. But it was great to experience the silence when there is nothing to hear except the wind, sea, and birds.
