Our journey through the land of freedom is now over. In 82 days, we traveled through 8 states, visited some of the most famous cities in the world, drove through the stunning vastness of the Wild West for days, and hiked in the most beautiful national parks. So we had the perfect mix of culture, history, scenery, city life, nature, and culinary delights. In summary, the U.S.A. pretty much fulfills every stereotype that we Europeans know from movies and TV. From frighteningly uniform bungalows in American suburbs with a pick-up truck in front of the garage, to party-filled student fraternities in two-story wooden houses with beer pong tables on the Victorian porch, to apartment buildings in the city where hipsters and strictly orthodox Jews share a floor overlooking the subway, to grumpy hermits in the Arizona desert with a gun on their belt and a cowboy hat on their head complaining about foreigners. We have seen a lot, experienced a lot, and above all, eaten a lot. The U.S.A. was certainly not cheap and it made our budget shrink considerably, but it was worth every dollar. We have met all kinds of people, both positive and negative. We have experienced a lot of love and seen violence. We have been blessed from beginning to end and enjoyed every day. See you soon, we'll meet again!
