From our campsite in Igeldo we could comfortably drive down to San Sebastian, with a stop at the "Mirador" with a magnificent view of the large bay of the city. After a visit to the car-free old town, a fish lunch in the harbor and the obligatory swim in the sea, we had to pedal up the mountain. And because it was so nice, we added a few more meters of altitude to enjoy the sunset at the summit.

On the way we had a lunch break in "Mendexa" and a short hike to the peninsula. Why were we suddenly the only ones? On the way back we had to realize that the peninsula had almost become an island.

Our app warned us about staying overnight in Bilbao (camper break-ins). So we parked, as usual with a few others, in a quiet parking lot high above the sea. And another postcard sunset.

Bilbao (at least the part we saw) fascinated us. Art and architecture can be admired, the highlight of course being the Guggenheim Museum.

In the actually very picturesque town of "Santillana del Mar" we learned what the Spaniards do on a Sunday. They flock to the town and have a long and indulgent lunch.

Another night by the sea in "Liendo" with a clear camper ban, where we were not even disturbed by the passing police among about 30 other motorhomes. The next morning we drove into the mountains. About 30 km inland we reached the nature park "Pico de Europa" with impressive gorges and imposing limestone mountains (with vultures circling above).

After a longer hike we climbed for 2 more days in a quiet high valley in a top climbing garden before returning to the sea.

Alles Gute! Gruss Jörg A.
