After a bike tour around the Noirmoutier peninsula, where thanks to low tide we were able to ride the road mentioned in the last blog post, we continued along the coast towards the south to La Rochelle, another beautiful city with an old harbor and two impressive watchtowers. We also visited the aquarium there. Next stop on the Ile d'Oléron: visiting the market and the old fortress. From Royan, we took the ferry to La-Verdon-sur-Mer and then through the Medoc wine region to Bordeaux. In Bordeaux, we once again took advantage of our bikes to explore the city. We are now in Arcachon, a tourist destination in the summer, but currently quite peaceful.

We are always fascinated by the French people, who venture out onto the exposed seafloor during low tide to collect and dig up seafood. Philipp enjoys the delicious oysters and seafood, and I enjoy the fresh fish. For the first time, we have eaten stingray. But most of the time, we cook ourselves in the camper. About half of our overnight stays have been at free sites in pine forests or by the sea.

We also enjoy taking walks on the beach, sipping delicious cappuccinos and desserts at cozy beach restaurants, or jogging along the sea.
