First stop on the South Island has been Nelson. A small town with 50,000 inhabitants in the north of the South Island. It is New Zealand's sunniest city.
The city stretches along the coast of the bay. Here you can find everything you need for a modest life. There are plenty of supermarkets, car washes, restaurants, gas stations, etc. This is not taken for granted in New Zealand if you have been in the New Zealand hinterland for a long time.
