We are sitting in our hotel room at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Australian desert - and outside the rain is pouring down on the red earth! We actually imagined it a bit differently, but now I finally have time to start our blog.
Last week we flew from Frankfurt via Dubai and Singapore to Darwin in northern Australia. Australia welcomed us with hot 36 degrees that would accompany us for the next few days.
Our first destination was Kakadu National Park, about 300 km west of Darwin. The climate is tropical and the flora and fauna are absolutely fascinating. Since we had to deal with jet lag and heat, we usually needed quite a long time in the mornings before we started our tours, which had the unfortunate disadvantage that we had to do the hikes through the park in the scorching heat of noon...
