Day 19 - day 19 (for English scroll down)

Friends of cultivated entertainment - now I have to express my suffering: first picture. This is how I wake up in the morning. Zoe curled up in the blanket like a caterpillar in a cocoon. There's not much left for me... So I get up with the chickens and a roommate. She doesn't have any blanket problems, but she has a big one in the bathroom. A fist-sized spider!! Mantra-like, I tell myself that it's so big that it probably doesn't want to crawl into our room on the first floor. Of course, I don't say anything to Zoe. She would not only curl up in the blanket, but also fold herself into the suitcase. Since today is Sunday, we follow the brunch tradition and enjoy ourselves in a café by the sea with a wonderful view. There's delicious French toast and we think fondly of Andreas, who showed us how to make them properly. On the agenda today was heading north. Hawaii Island is 122 kilometers wide and 150 kilometers long, and it combines eleven of the world's thirteen climatic zones. Today we encountered at least 5 of them! The northwest is more touristy overall, but it also has a bit more life. Restaurants, bars, cafes, and beautiful beaches line up one after another. And voila, there they are, the Suvretta/Oberägeri of Hawaii. One villa after another with infinity pools and high fences let our imagination run wild... Zoe was already about to ring the bell at one house and ask if they would take her in, I was mentally with her because of the spider, but no, such an accommodation is also character-building (not that it was necessarily on our to-do list, but you have to experience everything). The cultural highlight of the day was the petroglyphs. These are rock carvings from the 13th century, with abstract symbols as well as people, turtles, and canoes. They all would have gotten our undivided attention if it weren't for the Hansel & Gretel forest we had to pass through! To make matters worse, there wasn't a soul in sight (either the Americans aren't interested in petroglyphs or they knew about the spooky forest). The golden ending was a visit to the Lava Lava Beach Club. A beautiful beach restaurant where you dine with your feet in the sand, accompanied by lovely music until sunset. It doesn't get any better than that. Unfortunately, I can't upload videos to the blog, but the groove was phenomenal and the musicians - Obama's cousin and Troubadix (the feared singer in Asterix & Obelix), not because of his voice but because of his mustache - gave it their all and gave us an unforgettable evening 😊

Dear lovers of cultivated entertainment - now I have to share my suffering: first picture. That's how I wake up every day. Zoe rolled up in the blanket like a caterpillar in its cocoon. There's not much left for me... So I get up with the chickens and my next door room neighbor. She doesn't have a blanket problem, but she has an even worse one in the bathroom. A spider the size of a fist!! I keep telling myself like a mantra that it's so fat that it definitely doesn't want to crawl into our room on the first floor. I don't tell Zoe, of course. She would not only roll up in the blanket, but also fold herself into the suitcase. Today is Sunday and we're following the brunch tradition. We went to a café at the seashore with a wonderful view and enjoyed ourselves. We had delicious French toast and remembered Andreas, who showed us how to make them properly. Up north was on our agenda today. Hawaii Island is 122 km wide and 150 km long, and it includes eleven of the world's thirteen climate zones. Today we encountered at least five of them! And to make matters worse, there wasn't a single soul in sight (either the Americans aren't interested in petroglyphs or they knew about the spooky forest). The day ended wonderfully at the Lava Lava Beach Club. A beautiful beach restaurant where you dine with your feet in the sand, accompanied by live music until sunset.
