Week 20 - South and Southeast Coast of Sardinia

Pubblicato: 03.04.2022

Sunday evening showed me once again what traveling also does to you. We sat together in an international group in the evening on the beach and drank the sundowner. With us were Maja and Andreas, Dennis from Freiburg, Juan from Spain, Abril and Marie from France. Juan is currently studying abroad in Sardinia and the girls were visiting him. It's always exciting to hear what brought us all to the same place on earth and what the person is otherwise doing :-)

On Monday I said goodbye to Maja and Andreas and continued to Pula and the archaeological site Nora.

The next day, we first went to the capital Cagliari and then to a beach parking lot in Capitana. In Cagliari, I stocked up on a wetsuit and snorkeling equipment at Decathlon. I have never snorkeled before and was actually informed by Maja and Andreas that you can do it in Sardinia. I actually tried it already on a beautiful beach with the usual clear water.

I particularly liked Capo Carbonara. Here I could watch the surfers and take a nice hike to Capo. I always love the view from above.

Then we went to Cala Rei. This is a particularly well-known beach section. I was almost alone on the kilometer-long beach. Here, too, the water is super clear and shimmering blue.

However, the highlight of the week happened today. I have been in contact with the skydiving center in Sardinia all week and today I was able to do a tandem skydiving jump! I already did one when I was 18, so I knew what to expect. That's why I could enjoy today's jump even more and had a big smile on my face the whole time. 1 minute of free fall and 5 minutes of gliding. I even got to steer the parachute. In the meantime, I enjoyed the view of snow-covered mountains, Cagliari, and the sea. A perfect end to the week.

For the first time in Sardinia, I'm at a campsite. However, it only opened its season yesterday, so I am one of the first guests in 2022. In general, the season starts here in May. But I like to travel in the off-season because there are simply fewer people on the road and I can always find a parking space everywhere. Many parking spaces are also free, most of them are only chargeable during the high season. However, many beach bars, restaurants, shops, and campsites are closed. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages...
