Our days here in New Zealand are numbered - in two days our flight will leave for the South Seas.
It has been a very nice time here, but even though it may seem different in the photos on our blog, there were also not so nice experiences. The often bad weather has clouded our mood several times. We cooked, ate, and lived outside for four months. We had a roof over our heads only for sleeping and of course for driving - our car roof. Because of rain, we had to stay in bed for half the morning, because of cold, we couldn't sit outside in the evenings, because of a storm, we couldn't cook. Especially on the South Island, we would have liked more pleasant temperatures. We are also very much looking forward to a normal bed. In the past months, it was not particularly comfortable, and almost every day Torsten said jokingly, "I'm too old for this shit!"
But all in all, we had a very nice time here, and we are enthusiastic about the country and its people.
Until mid-April, we will now relax on Rarotonga, a South Sea island that belongs to the Cook Islands. What is very unusual: we will fly on Thursday, March 30th here and arrive on Wednesday, March 29th. We will be given a day, so to speak. On the flight back to New Zealand, it will be taken away from us again. We almost had to sleep on the beach the first night because we only booked our accommodation starting from Thursday, our departure day. This is happening because we are crossing the international date line.
Next, we will delight you with photos and reports from the South Sea.
