Day 13 - 'The times we had...'
... were really great!👌
Today we explored every corner of Tallinn's Old Town.🤓 Climbed the city wall.🧱 Visited the castle hill - it has a lot to offer: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (no photos allowed inside😔), Parliament (candy pink and very neat), many alleys, and St. Mary's Cathedral. It may be plain white on the outside, but it surprises with many magnificent coats of arms inside. Reason: it used to be the church of the German nobility.🤴🏰🛡 We also stumbled upon an organ concert by chance again. An Italian organist played the keys skillfully.🎼 Gave us goosebumps!😊
As a contrast to the many small alleys around the castle hill, we also visited the Rotermann Quarter. Here, old trading and warehouse buildings have been modernized near the harbor.🏢💰 Hotels, restaurants, fancy shops - a bit like the HafenCity in Hamburg, but without water in between. A completely different face of Tallinn...👍
In between, we took breaks in shady courtyards.☕🍰 That was very important because it was quite hot, crowded, and there was so much to see (endless impressions).🤪
In the evening, we ended the day as befits a medieval city: In the historic ambiance of the medieval restaurant 'Olde Hansa', the waiters are dressed up, rustic food and drinks are served in clay dishes.😊🥣 But the prices are set in the present: One liter of dark honey beer, a cider, a meat dish (elk and wild boar), a meat soup, a dessert - 51€.🙄 But it's worth the fun. The food was very good, and of course, you also pay for the experience.👍 The mug of beer was definitely so big that the animals couldn't lift it...😊💪
That was two days in Tallinn. Saw so much, such a great city!🏰🕍😎 But now our heads are buzzing, and we are looking forward to two days on Saaremaa Island.🤗🌊⛴
