The Gorges de la Carança

Pubblicato: 29.10.2021

After the beautiful but exhausting day at the hot springs, I sleep again at the same place. It takes quite a long time for the sun to come up behind the mountain in the morning, so it's very cold, but here you can be undisturbed and have a river nearby - ideal for completing everyday tasks. The sun also arrives at the van at 9:30 am🙂

Meanwhile, I have developed a real daily routine that can be implemented well regardless of the location. I enjoy breakfast in the meadow next door.

In the afternoon, I have a work session in my proven workplace, and I stop by the local vegetable market on the way. Since I have driven the route a few times now, I already feel almost at home in the area...Actually, I wanted to spend the night at the hiking parking lot, where I had a hike planned for the next day, but according to the Google Maps images, it is not as inviting compared to my current location. So I spend the night at the same place again and the next day I am actually ready to leave for 'The Gorges de la Caranca' at 9 am. The hiking area is located directly in the area of the hot springs. 🙂

At the official hiking parking lot, the 9-kilometer hike along the gorge begins. The views and paths are breathtaking, but not entirely free of vertigo.

On the way, I meet the owner of the kiosk at the hiking parking lot, who engages me in a small chat and invites me for a drink after the hike. (Later there was quite a lot going on at the kiosk, so the invitation didn't work out anymore ;))

Until crossing the suspension bridge, the sound of the waterfalls dominates the soundscape, then it goes in the sun over rock and stone through the diverse Pyrenees landscape.

Of course, I have my Tupperware with me and can pick thyme along the way🙂

Once I reach the highest point, I take a break and enjoy my porridge in the sun between the mountain peaks.

On the way back, there is a little cold refreshment in the river...

... before I return to the starting point and finish with a coffee at the kiosk. There is also a water source where I can refill my water supplies.

Looking forward to a hot bath, I go back and in wise foresight, I remembered the point where we parked to take the short walk down to the hot springs next to the cold river. When I arrive, a few people are just on their way back, so I have the hot pools to myself for now. Later, a young woman with her two dogs arrives and later her boyfriend joins her. Nice company. 🙂
So I actually got to have a sauna bath in the middle of the forest. I still can't believe what I get to experience on this trip... Thank you to life. ❤️

After the free spa visit, I continue to the lake near the city of Perpignan. Something stupid happens on the way and I suddenly end up on the toll road A9 towards Barcelona. I could have continued to Spain right away, but instead I follow Google Maps and turn around onto the opposite lane. After 12 km, the next exit finally comes, then back on the national road to Perpignan. The detour only costs me 1 euro toll, but 20 extra minutes. At least now I have also experienced the three-lane highway in France. 😄 When I arrive at the parking space by the lake, I quickly make something to eat and sleep well like a baby. 🙂

Willkommen in Spanien! Cool dass Du immer die Karte/Position zeigst 👍🏽😊 War bestimmt eine tolle Wanderung in der Schlucht! Das Wasser war bestimmt kalt… aber Du bist ja abgehärtet 😄
