Today we head back from Vaslui through the beautiful sunflower fields via Bacau back to the Carpathians.
After about 1.5 hours of driving through the heat, I'm back in the mountains. I continue my actual route in Comanesti. Next highlight: the dam and Lacul de acumulare Poiana Uzului.
The climb goes through numerous bends and I overtake an old fire engine with flashing blue lights that is obviously too slow 😅. From Balea Uzului the route continues on gravel to Cinod and from there a fresh tarmac road down to Sanmartin.
There is a lot going on in Miercurea Ciuc. Everything is spruced up and there are beautiful churches and a town hall. There is even a pedestrian zone, which is still marked as a street on my maps.
Then it's back to an off-road track up to 1246m. Great views. The track is drivable.
I now take breaks every now and then. This time I even meet a few hikers along the way.
When I arrive at Viscolul Mountain, I drive downhill along the Paraul Fata. Here, a newly built tarmac road suddenly begins. The panorama is fantastic. Everything seems very tidy and modern here, and there is lush greenery and countless trees everywhere.
A few RVs have settled down in the meadows by the stream. Down at the Acumularea Frumoasa reservoir I am greeted by a wonderful sunset and there is not a soul in sight. Unfortunately I have to move on because the journey is not over yet.
From here it is another 70km over road and gravel to Lacul Rosu, where I will pitch my tent today at Red Lake Camping .
I visited Lacul Rosu earlier, but it wasn't that busy. Following the numerous food stalls, you'll definitely find yourself standing on your feet during the day.
