Foz do Iguacu

Hi guys,

after three weeks in Guatemala, we flew to Brazil on August 22nd. Due to the time difference and many layovers, we arrived in Foz do Iguacu on August 23rd, healthy and lively.

Our next morning started very early because we had a trip planned to the Iguacu Falls. You can admire the waterfalls from both the Argentinean and the Brazilian side. We went to the park on the Argentinean side. So we spent our first day in Brazil actually in Argentina, it's something. On the way to the park, we made a stop at a viewpoint called Hilto Tres Fonteras, from where you can see Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. The countries are separated by two rivers, the Rio Iguacu and the Rio Parana.

When we arrived at the park, there were different options to reach the waterfalls. There is a lower trail, an upper trail, and an observation deck that can be reached by a small train. We hiked all of them. When we saw the Niagara Falls, we thought, 'holy shit, they are huge and there is so much water coming down, gigantic.' But 'holy shit, the Iguacu Falls are much bigger and more impressive, they are similar to the Niagara Falls in terms of natural beauty.' You can imagine the landscape as in Jurassic Park. You could almost believe that a pterodactyl is flying around the corner. It's just impressively beautiful.

And because we thought four hours in the park were too little, we decided to see the waterfalls from the Brazilian side the next day, and it was also worth a visit.

We got up real early in the morning because we planned a trip to the Iguacu Waterfalls. You can visit them from the Argentinean side or the Brazilian side. We went to the Argentinean side. So we spent our first day in Brazil actually in Argentina, it is what it is. On the way through the park, we made a short stop at a viewpoint called Hilto Tres Fonteras. From this point, you can see Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina at the same time. The countries are separated by two rivers, the Rio Iguacu and the Rio Parana.

When you arrive at the park, you have different options to see the waterfalls. There is an upper trail, a lower trail, or you can take a small train to another viewpoint. We tried all of them. When we saw the Niagara Falls in Canada, we thought, 'Holy shit, those are big falls with lots of water.' But 'holy shit, the Iguacu Falls are way bigger than the Niagara Falls and the natural beauty is amazing.' Do you know the movie Jurassic Park? The landscape looks exactly like that. You almost expect a flying dinosaur to appear around the corner. It's just impressively beautiful.

We enjoyed the falls so much that we decided to visit them again on the next day because four hours was not enough. So we went there one day later, but we saw the falls from the Brazilian side, and it was amazing as well.
