We had another 3-hour car ride ahead of us. I also wanted to see the Rio Celeste on the way because it is supposed to have a beautiful color.
Once we arrived, I spontaneously decided that I wanted to see the waterfall. (much to Basti's delight😅) What followed was an 8km hike. I had been looking forward to climbing 1000 steps down, but unfortunately, that was also the way back. We were completely sweaty, but it was really beautiful.
On the way to our actual destination, we left the paved roads and unfortunately, for the first time, our GPS led us into a dead end in the middle of nowhere. So we had to go halfway back. Luckily, it didn't start raining, otherwise, we wouldn't have known how to cross the sandy, narrow bridge without a railing.. no idea 😅I had to close my eyes for a moment and I already thought about how to explain to the car rental company that their car is in the river😅
In Caño Negro, we were right by the Rio Frío, near the border with Nicaragua.
Our accommodation was in a botanical garden. Many plants, colorful birds, and butterflies. We spent the day at the pool. Later, we walked around the village for a long time to find WiFi somewhere. I still had to book the hotel for the next day 😅Unfortunately, we couldn't make any progress with English anymore (dear Sandy, by this means, I'm signing up for a Spanish course) well, it worked with hands and feet with a young guy who then provided me with his personal hotspot. So the accommodation was secured for the next day. Across from our accommodation, we discovered monkeys. The owner told us that they are spider monkeys and they come to our accommodation in the evening... suddenly one ran across the road in front of me... legs on the ground, hands in the air, and looked at me😅😂 it reminded me a lot of the monkey from Jumanji😂unfortunately, I didn't have my phone in my hand that quickly.
Before we had to continue the next morning, we took a boat trip with the owner of the property. We spent 2 hours on the Rio Frio. We saw several animals, including crocodiles. It was already a beautiful jungle feeling on the river.
