We have arrived in beautiful Polynesia. The flight was long: first 12 hours to Los Angeles, then about 8 hours there during which we could even lie down on a sofa. After another 7.5 hours we finally reached Papeete (the capital of Tahiti), but our luggage did not. It was early—4 a.m.—we were exhausted and dragged ourselves to the service desk to find out when our bags might arrive.
The first day wore on tiredly. Thanks to Manu, Matze, and lots of coffee we managed to stay up until the evening and crashed into bed around 7 p.m. local time.
After a good sleep we headed the next day straight to the dreamy Raiatea. There we quickly arranged a rental car at the airport for the following day, and after a short shopping trip we went to our own lodge with a kitchen-living room, bedroom, and terrace.
On Wednesday we were overjoyed. Our luggage arrived! Yippee. After two days of improvising, finally our own things again.
On Thursday we explored the island together with Manu. The phrase we said most often: “Isn’t this beautiful!!” One breathtaking spot after another. Up and down hills, along the beach, and to the sadly collapsed temple.
On Friday Rilana and I explored the west side of the island, and in the evening the crew met for the first (almost) complete get-together on site. In the morning we head out on the boat.
