Alea jacta est - we have booked the ferry from Helsinki to Travemünde: On Mon, October 18th! We noticed that the prices at Finnlines are increasing almost daily, so we made a decision.

Today we covered 675 km, from Rovaniemi to the southeastern Lakeland, near Savonlinna.

The landscape changes rather unnoticed over the hundreds of kilometers. We are still accompanied by signs warning of reindeer for a long time, in the first few hours we also see them more frequently, later agriculture prevails, with cereal cultivation and the like.

When we started driving in the morning, the temperature was around 0 degrees, it froze at night. The further south we go, the more trees still have leaves and the vegetation shines golden again.

With bio and photo breaks

the journey takes from 8:30 am - 5:50 pm, but now we are sitting in a cozy log cabin in the forest, near the lake, with a fireplace, a superbly equipped kitchen and a sauna.
