On the way to Wellington, from where we fly to Thailand, we stopped at River Valley. The route led through a unique area full of small grassy hills with sheep on them. That's how you imagine New Zealand.
At first we thought this was just a stop so they could sell us a river rafting or horse riding tour and there was nothing else there. But it was a beautiful lodge right by a river where you could swim and jump off small cliffs. In the evening there was a delicious dinner with lots of home-grown vegetables and meat from the region.
What was really great was that there was nothing else in River Valley except for this lodge. So in the evening everyone from the two full Kiwi buses was in the lodge bar and because there was no Wi-Fi or internet connection in general, you even had to talk to each other. :)
