Horní Planá

Pubblicato: 15.06.2017

On Tuesday morning (06/06/2017) the fat one is limping again. This time at least it's clear why: on the first stage he got a blister, the skin of which came off overnight. Underneath is fresh skin, just not fully load-bearing yet. With a paw protector, it gets better right away. I wanted to visit the vet anyway because of a sore spot under the fur, so off to Waldkirchen. I was out of the doctor's office by around one o'clock and another 100€ poorer. Bandage for the paw (he would sweat in the paw protector), Mitex for the sore spot as well as anti-inflammatory and of course antibiotics (both as an injection and in tablet form). The full program. Unfortunately, I lack the experience to be able to assess which of this was really useful...

According to the doctor, the bandage can stay on for 3 days if it stays dry, and Rango is load-bearing. About 10 minutes after leaving the practice, it starts to drizzle, luckily only briefly, and we can take cover. After lunch at the butcher's (wheat beer and slaughter plate), I decide to push on to the Moldaustausee today. While waiting, it starts to rain. The bus runs regularly to Haidmühle and Rango is allowed to ride for free (maybe the bandage does make sense after all?). In a chat with the driver, it turns out that he grew up near the Lipno reservoir. In Haidmühle, he offers to drive me to the train station across the border, which I gratefully accept (it's pouring rain by now). The slightly more than 2 km long route beyond the border has its pitfalls. I am unsure several times whether the bus will even fit through there, but the good man knows what he is doing. After a few ignored stop signs, I can get off in the Czech Republic and am practically in front of the train that will take me to Horní Planá. I arrive at the campsite, located right on the reservoir, at around 6 p.m. and set up our tent during the first lull in the rain.

I really like the spot near Horní Planá, there's not much to see in the town, but it's cozy. Unfortunately, the local ATM doesn't accept my credit card, so I ran out of money after a short time. Until then, I use the time to relax by the lake while Rango licks his wounds, and to take my first steps into travel blogging. Since it was laundry day again, the fat one was also included. This time one of our walking rings accidentally led us into the reservoir. Encouraged by treats, it actually went quite well. A clear progress!
