The cutest animal in the world!

Pubblicato: 03.05.2023

What is gray, has huge ears, eats eucalyptus, and looks incredibly cute ??

Yes, exactly!! Koalas!! Finally, we finally saw koalas!

For that, we took the ferry from Townsville to Magnetic Island. Well, it wasn't really extra, as Magnetic Island is also very scenic. But it promises a high chance of seeing koalas in the wild. And hey, guys, I'm still beaming from ear to ear. We were able to see multiple koalas. Which is not that easy, as the cute ones hide pretty well in the trees. But the patience always pays off, and suddenly you spot something furry, super cute in the trees. Mostly cuddled between the branches, either sleeping or eating. Have I mentioned how cute koalas look while doing that?

But you have to admit that koalas are really lazy animals. However, it is also an art to look so cute while doing nothing, right? Okay, I think I have mentioned enough times how cute they are. Yes, I admit. I may have fallen a little bit in love with these little eucalyptus-eating dwarfs. But here's some informative information. As I said, koalas are very lazy animals. They sleep more than 80% of the day, and the rest of the time, they are busy eating. The reason for this is that koalas only eat eucalyptus. As a few eucalyptus leaves don't really provide energy, the koala is a very sluggish animal. By the way, eucalyptus leaves are poisonous, but koalas can produce a special enzyme that allows them to eat eucalyptus. They actually don't need to drink anything. If they consume too much water too quickly, it can be fatal for them. And the most important information. They are just so cute!! Sorry, I did it again.

So they chill in the treetops, curled up between the branches, sunbathing and drifting with the wind. Tell me, what kind of life is that?

And people, it's just beautiful to see animals in their natural habitat. Just the way it should be!

In Queensland, it is allowed to hold koalas. There are some parks where you can do that. Of course, it costs extra and is fully booked. And honestly, the temptation is really strong to get closer to such a fluffy sweetie. But it's just not right. Or would you like to be held by many strangers every 10 minutes? Well, I wouldn't want that. I'd rather eat some eucalyptus 😊.

It's incredible what these animals do. Because everyone who has spotted a koala has had a big smile on their face. As I said, I'll do it again tonight. I can only repeat myself. It's so nice to see animals in their natural habitat. It made my big animal-loving heart shine again.

On the way to our free camping spot, right by the sea, we passed pineapple fields. I had never seen that before either. Just amazing. Plus, we were able to spot a few kangaroos in the meadow again. Kangaroos are active at night. So if you're driving in the evening, the chances of seeing kangaroos are high.

Animals are just amazing. Except for mosquitoes. No one really needs them. I don't want to complain, but right now, I have more than 60 bites on my body, no joke. Well, at least the bites are really less harmful than those of sandflies. Well, you have to accept it when you're outdoors almost all day. But you want to know something? The koalas and the turtle from this week make up for it.

...so cute, seriously!
