India | Jodhpur, Jaisalmer & Thar Desert

Pubblicato: 08.02.2024

Namaste 🙏🏼 dear everyone!

Our journey in the north of India or the state of Rajasthan ends with the last two large stops, which were quieter and more relaxed than the two very large cities before them.

Jodhpur is called the blue city because many of the houses in the old town are painted blue because it absorbs the heat/sun better.

In Jodhpur we found a wonderful hostel - Bob Hostel, named after Bob Marley - a gem with the guys who run it - for me a home away from home and feeling good from start to finish, with great food, good conversations and exciting other travelers from all over World!

We saw a beautiful fort here, which is directly reminiscent of the final boss or final battle of an epic series.

One of my fellow travelers was a bit motivated to visit the fort. Yes, in terms of architecture and history, they are special buildings, but after a dozen forts I had enough :) and the one in Jodhpur is really something special, as it was built on an enormous rock and therefore looks very epic and special .

India is really a very special country, full of contradictions, incredibly nice people, sacred cows and a lot of magic among the rubbish here and there :)

Afterwards we drove 5 hours further west with a guy from the hostel, about 50 km from the Pakistani border, to the desert city of Jaisalmer. This sandstone city is located in front of the Thar Desert.

Who would have thought, this also has a fort and now we even live inside the fort, so I don't have to visit it again. This fort thing has now become a running joke :) I don't go to one anymore! :)

Our new friend Praveen is originally from the desert city and has been a tourist guide since he was 13 years old. The lives are definitely different than in Europe, as are the circumstances and socio-cultural influences. Through Kapel and Praveen I was able to get to know a lot of new things and ask a lot of questions. I am infinitely grateful to have been able to immerse myself in certain parts of an exciting new world of life.

We then invited Praveen on a desert tour and he told us a lot about the area around Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert. It was a wonderful day with probably the most beautiful sunset we were able to see.

I love the desert.

In the evening we were cooked and sat around the campfire alone in the desert and only a few kilometers from the Pakistani border.

Our last night in the wintry north came to an end. The next day we flew with discarded aircraft from Europe to Mumbai and then on to Goa, 1700km away, where tropical air temperatures of 34 degrees and water temperatures of 28 degrees await us, as well as the second half of our trip.
