The departure from Lake Lugano the next morning is relaxed.
First, have a leisurely breakfast with a view of the lake. Very nice! You can feel that autumn has already arrived here in Switzerland. The morning temperatures are very cool, in stark contrast to the warm nights and hot days in Rome. Morning dew is expected, and the water of the lake 'steams'.
At 11:30 in the morning, we set off. It has become warmer by now, and we drive on our route through Switzerland towards Germany - passing by magnificent landscapes and many appealing lakes in beautiful sunshine.
We make it smoothly until shortly before Basel, then the roads become crowded. Our navigation system recommends driving through France, so we continue on the 'other' side of the Rhine River towards home. A good suggestion! The A5 Basel towards Karlsruhe is simply too crowded.
We cruise comfortably and without traffic congestion through Alsace, via Strasbourg to the Palatinate. At Lauterburg/Weißenburg/Kandel, we finally cross the last border. After Italy, Switzerland, and France, we are back in Germany 🇩🇪!
Just a few more kilometers to Ludwigshafen, and we're done!
