Today's Special: Grampians National Park in Victoria

We leave the state of South Australia, which strangely sets the clock half an hour back, heading towards Victoria, where this nonsense is not practiced, and the clock is reset to what it was before, thus moving forward half an hour again. Now we have a time difference to Germany of 10 hours and not 9.5 hours …

Today we are heading to the Grampians in the eponymous national park. The first part of the journey again passes through a desolate landscape that couldn't be flatter. The second part leads through the Grampians, a sandstone mountain range that has formed beautiful rock formations.

The first stop is a lookout in Dunkeld. Here we get our first view of the mountains, which are covered with many deciduous trees. The second stop is at Lake Bellfield. A relatively large lake, created in 1960 as a water reservoir for the drier times of the year. It is not a recreational lake, and you can only swim or engage in motorsport in very few sections of the lake.

After that, we continue to lookouts in Halls Gap, a small town at the end of the mountain range and by Lake Bellfield. At the higher Reeds Lookout and Boroka Lookout, we get a nice overview of the area.

After we had the overview, we headed to the town of Halls Gap. First stop: Tourist Info. We wanted to buy a magnet. We wanted to, yes, but there were no magnets for sale there. Hard to believe, where are we going to find a magnet now? An outdoor store at least had a mini selection … well, they’re not really bad, the magnets … Tomorrow there will be more from the Grampians… today we just had a quick “sneak peek”…
