Rhein Radtour Tag 4

Freshness in the morning - driving away troubles and worries. A glance through the window into the stable and we already have a grin on our faces again. This room is truly unique. On our way to breakfast, we cheerfully say 'Good Morning' to the kangaroos, bunnies, peacocks, and guinea fowls. Sonja is already expecting us with a wonderful breakfast: homemade yogurt, our own alpine cheese - 3 cows from the family are on the mountain and the milk yield is balanced in the form of cheese. Various jams made from berries from our own garden, smoked beef, and homemade bread are all ready. We would have loved to listen to our host and her interesting stories a bit longer. But the sun is rising relentlessly and we must go.

After a brief hour of travel, we reach Lake Constance. The nature reserve between the mouth of the Rhine and the Old Rhine gives us our first glimpse of Lake Constance. We marvel as we ride past the dam with reeds, water, and little woods. An incredible cacophony of various birds reaches an impressive noise level compared to the silence that has often prevailed on our route.

The bike path crosses the railway line countless times today, and it’s a fun feeling to stand at the barrier with many other cyclists and wait until the whole bunch starts moving again. Then all the cyclists quickly spread out on the route again, and you never feel like you’re in a crowd. We are glad that it's Tuesday today, as there are surely annoying many cyclists out on the weekend.

When booking, we made sure to stay very close to the lake. A simple double room – as a cyclist, you don’t have high expectations. However, this room is more of a small room and of course, there are only shared showers and toilets, fortunately at least in the hallway and not three streets away. We have to make the bed ourselves, and whether we can fit two people and our saddle bags into this room at the same time is still uncertain :)

Just managed to stash everything in the room: now it’s as fast as possible into the water – swimming in Lake Constance – a wonderful refreshment. We feel the summer by the lake and enjoy the balmy evening, dinner with live music right by the lake.
