Today, we went exploring towards Rio Celeste. The GPS guided us onto a 'road,' which is not unusual in Costa Rica and would be considered a 'forest road' back home. After passing two ranch fences, a young man waved at us. As he spoke good English, it turned out that he had an accident with his motorcycle and had been wandering for about 10 hours. The police apparently could not help him because he couldn't tell them his location and had no internet. He said that we could not continue and had to turn back. So, without thinking, we picked him up and took him to his mother. During the ride, we learned that he is 19 years old and named Josimar. He must have been on his way to work when the accident happened, and his mother didn’t know where he was either. With tears, she embraced him. The curious thing is that the Rio Celeste, or the restaurant we wanted to go to, was only 500 meters from the meeting point with his mother!!! Up there, where we found him, there was not a soul in sight... just us two tourists who had followed the GPS 🙏🙈
