After a good breakfast, I didn't start so early today. Today it shouldn't get so warm, and it wasn't. The temperatures ranged between 22 and 26 degrees, ideal for motorcycling. It was supposed to go to the Prirode Papuk National Park via nice small roads.
It went up a well-graveled track into a beautiful nature. The track was very easy to drive, but every now and then a wood truck appeared. It got quite tight, but the guys know their trade and always found a way to pull over to the right side, so you could easily pass each other.
After a good stretch, there was a spot where you had a good view of the valley, a nice resting point.
Oh God, how I enjoyed it. Absolute silence only disturbed by chirping birds and my tinnitus 😉. A wide view of the country and nature. I didn't have any hurry to continue riding and disturb this idyll with the noise of my motorcycle.
But I can't stay here forever and so I went on. After a short distance there was a nature park. The 10 Kuna were well worth the entrance fee. Here, the creation and geological peculiarities were explained. There was also a lot of flora and fauna to see. In a pond you could observe crayfish and frogs. Great thing. Since I was quite early, I could admire everything pretty much alone, only on my departure did a family come, who mistook me for a ranger and bombarded me with questions, until I made it clear that I am a tourist from Alemannia, then we all laughed heartily.
Off I went, past great rock formations and a waterfall. If it hadn't been for the now asphalted road, you might have thought you were in the Amazon rainforest.
The park ended and it continued through many small villages. The many ruins inside and outside the towns were striking. Partially you could still see traces of fire and gunfire. All remains from the Balkan wars. Truly terrible and fascinating at the same time how nature reclaims it.
Once again, it went over the ridge on which the national park was also located, and then towards the Save River. Signposts to a campsite that I wanted to visit had been accompanying me for a few kilometers.
The place was quickly found, apart from me with my tent, there is only one German and one British motorhome here. A nice little place. I was immediately greeted by a swarm of mosquitoes. But not with me, I thought and quickly sprayed myself with mosquito repellent. From then on it was peaceful 😉
After setting up the tent and settling in, I had to move a bit and walked to the Save River bank. On the way there, I accidentally disturbed someone who was meditating during their Tai Chi exercises.
When I arrived at the river bank, I felt humble. So much beautiful nature, you can't capture it in photos. Natural riverbanks, herons and birds of prey feasting on the river. Trout as long as my forearm with hand, frogs, mussels, and crayfish. Wild bees, whole swarms taking in fluid at the river. I found a stone, sat down, and watched this whole spectacle for about an hour. I was really moved by so much nature.
After I was back at the campsite, I quickly cooked a ready-made soup and secured the tent against the storm. Now I'm lying in the tent, listening to the drumming rain ☔️, the thunder, and counting the lightning 😬😬😉😅
