1st day in Chicago

Pubblicato: 17.09.2018

After 10 hours of sleep, we head to the Windy City, also known as Chicago. It is the third largest city in the United States.

Right outside our doorstep (1 minute walk) is a subway station that takes us directly to downtown.

As our first stop, we visit the Willis Tower with its Skydeck. Until 2009, it was called the Sears Tower. The tower is 527 meters high and has 108 floors to the top.

Here we go. In the 103rd floor awaits us a magnificent view

On clear days, you can see up to 80 kilometers into four different states. Unfortunately, it was a bit hazy in the distance during our visit.

After getting an initial overview from above, we visit Millennium Park with its silver sculpture. The sculpture is supposed to resemble a bear.

Can you spot us in the picture???

After a short break in the real HOT Chicago, we walked to the pier towards the aquarium and planetarium. Oh, how we searched for shade.
Unfortunately, there was no wind in the Windy City.

The aquarium is located in a beautiful old building.
The main attractions in the aquarium are beluga whales and sea otters.
The aquarium puts a lot of emphasis on educating children about the impact of careless plastic disposal. Above is a sculpture in the aquarium. This otter was made from plastic pieces.

We were starting to get hungry. After a quick search on the internet, we found a great restaurant that offers almost exclusively gluten-free dishes. So we headed to the subway and went a few stations further.

After dinner, we ended the evening with this view from the Hancock Tower...

...and sweetened it with cocktails. The bar is on the 95th floor. So a great view over Chicago. A good alternative to the Willis Tower if you want to save the entrance fee there.

View from the women's restroom ;-)

Time to head back to the accommodation. New day, new game (Football Gameday Seattle at Chicago)

Tag in Chicago) verwenden dürfen. Wir würden selbstverständlich nicht die, auf denen Sie zu erkennen sind benutzen. Außerdem wird Ihr Blog als Quelle angegeben. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Ben
