Today is the last day of this year's USA vacation, tomorrow we're going back. I wake up with nostalgia, a look out of the window suggests beach weather again. And right: it is already very hot in the morning and: there is no wind!!!
This time we chose a beach on the inside of the peninsula, i.e. on Cape Cod Bay, as our destination. The beach is called Sandy Neck Beach and is located in a nature reserve. This beach has a wide dune landscape.
But before you can enjoy that, you have to pay $20 for parking again!
Even on the beach there is no wind. Luckily, because it's not a sandy beach, it's a pebble beach. With a wind like yesterday we would probably have been stoned.
Quickly found a place, spread out the towel and prepared Aaron's diving mask. Suddenly a shrill whistle sounded across the beach. The lifeguards called over to us: "Hey guys, no snorkel in this area!" Crystal clear water, no wind, hardly any people on the beach and snorkeling is forbidden. Well, discussions are pointless here anyway. So the mask was packed away again and we went into the water. Aaron ran ahead and jumped into the water, and I followed with a graceful hop.
When I regained consciousness, the nice lifeguards stood around me and one gave me mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
The water was so cold that my heart stopped for a moment. During the night there was a thunderstorm and a storm that shook the sea so that the cold lower water layers mixed with the surface water. It felt like 5 degrees Celsius now. Nicole chased the pretty young girls away with a wet towel and herded me back to our berth. Aaron didn't care, he bounced around in the water like it was a bathtub.
I lay down with my wife and let the sun roast me with her.
After four hours we were done and drove back to pack our bags. The difficulty here was to distribute all the clothes between two suitcases and the cool box bought at Walmart in such a way that none of the transport containers exceeded 23 kg. After two hours and thanks to the Tschibo luggage scale, it was almost right down to the gram.
Now it's time for the last meal and then off to bed. Gather strength for tomorrow...
