Happy Easter!
I am now in New Plymouth on the west coast of the North Island. I have two travel mates (from Hawaii and Belgium) and after a few very rainy days in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, we have hardly any rain and more sunshine :-)
But you can already tell that winter is coming: It gets dark at 6 and it gets so cold at night that sometimes my two sleeping bags are not enough. Neither of these makes camping particularly easy, but you get used to it.
Here are some impressions of our road trip...
Wellington
Probably nice, but it's hardly fun in continuous rain (except for the museum)
Cape Palliser
Very remote (meaning lots of driving with many curves and sometimes on gravel roads), but super beautiful
