Tuesday, Travel day. We traveled on the Chinese high-speed train from XI'an to Chengdu.
We had bought the tickets in advance to save time. The journey to the train station also took a little longer as it was raining and the taxi drivers in front of the hotel only went to the airport, or simply did not want to take us... Before you can reach the platform, the luggage is scanned. So you have to plan a little more time than in Germany. In any case, the train was first on the platform when we arrived, secondly there was no rush for seats as everyone reserves seats, thirdly the train left on time and did not have any technical problems and fourthly it arrived in Chengdu on time... An unusual process compared to traveling on DB trains.
We traveled on a so-called CRH3, a high-speed train from Siemens. The other variants of the trains CRH1-CRH5 were delivered from France, Japan, and Canada. China has since developed its own train, the CRH 380A. This train has reached a speed record of 486km/h. We had to settle for 300km/h, which is currently the speed limit on Chinese tracks. Technically, it would be possible to go 50-80 km/h faster.
The journey took about 4 hours and was overall very pleasant. We are looking forward to the next tour.
