SINGAPORE - Last day

Pubblicato: 20.09.2017

On my last day in Singapore, thanks to a post on Instagram, I met a good friend from Germany in the big city far away. She was there for the Formula 1! What a coincidence! We met for dinner and had a lot of things to exchange about my stay abroad, as she was also abroad a few years ago :) We ate at a restaurant that serves traditional Chinese dumplings, very thin dumplings made only from flour, water, and salt, with various savory fillings. They are prepared in a bamboo basket and often vary in taste due to different combinations. You can cook them in hot water or fry them, the imagination knows no bounds :)

After the meal, we went to Marina Bay again to enjoy the beautiful skyline and have a beer, as the temperature was much more pleasant than the day before. Then Saskia had to leave for the Formula 1 spectacle and we said goodbye again :)

Later, I took the metro to the Botanic Gardens as I didn't get off the hop-on-hop-off bus there due to the rain. Unfortunately, I arrived relatively late and the garden is very large (about 75 hectares), so I arrived too late at the National Orchid Garden which closes at 7 p.m. Nevertheless, the visit to the garden was really beautiful and highly recommended for anyone in Singapore! It is the most visited botanical garden in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. When the garden was built in 1800, mainly things like cocoa and nutmeg were supposed to be grown there as they were economically important, later the same applied to rubber production. When the plan was implemented in 1960 to make Singapore the greenest city in Asia, the huge Singapore Herbarium was planted there! You can visit the entire garden for the most part free of charge and almost 24/7. I saw many joggers and walkers there, and regular concerts take place, after which you can eat something in the restaurants there.
