After a night of heavy rain, the good news this morning was that it was already dry. Today the Klausen Pass is closed to motorized traffic, so there are many cyclists. However, I still take the PostBus via Altdorf to Attinghausen to the cable car station of the Brüstibähnli. This way I take a shortcut and easily overcome 1000 meters of altitude. The ride in the small gondola is already an experience. The weather is good, although still a bit foggy, which makes everything even more mythical. The ascent is easy and I make good progress. Just under an hour below the pass, I can't believe my eyes, there's Patrick. I thought he was in Davos... The surprise is successful. He has already hiked everything from Engelberg via the Surenen Pass. Together, we climb up to the pass and enjoy the time together and the fantastic view. The clouds are clearing more and more. Strengthened with rolls, sausage, and a sip of white wine to celebrate the day, we descend to Engelberg. Due to all the talking, my concentration suffers a bit and I end up on the ground with my backpack, like a turtle on its shell. Even though this stage doesn't have too many meters of altitude, I can still add 5 hours and 15 minutes, 22 kilometers, and 850 meters of altitude to the statistics in the end. In Engelberg, we recharge with coffee and something sweet, and as if I knew something, I reserved at Hotel Bellevue on the advice of Aunt Heidy, a stylish, newly renovated hotel, exactly Patrick's and my taste. You can easily add someone to the double room for single use. We enjoyed the aperitif together at Yucatan and then the well-deserved burgers at the pub. The surprise really worked for Patrick.
