Vinaroz (in Valencian Vinaròs and officially Vinaròs/Vinaroz) is a coastal city and municipality located in the northern part of the province of Castellón (Castelló), in the Comunitat Valenciana (Spain, Europe). It is currently considered the capital of the comarca of Baix Maestrat (Bajo Maestrazgo) and is also the headquarters of the judicial district, being judicial district nº 3 of the province of Castellón. Moreover, it is also part of the municipal association of Baix Maestrat.
Located right on the Costa Azahar (or Costa dels Tarongers), the municipality borders the neighboring province of Tarragona in Catalonia (specifically the municipality of Alcanar), with a population of 29,686 inhabitants (INE data 2023) and an area of 95.46 km².
The parish church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, dates back to the 16th century, and features Valencian Gothic and Renaissance styles with a Baroque façade. Its patrons are Saint Sebastian and the Virgin of Mercy. Its patronal festivals, in honor of Saint John and Saint Peter, are celebrated at the end of June.
Additionally, it should be noted that the Bullring (Plaça de Bous) of Vinaròs is considered the bullring closest to the sea in the world, awarded with a Guinness Prize.
