Santa Coloma de Gramenet (sometimes also referred to as Santa Coloma de Gramanet) is a city and municipality in the province of Barcelona, in Catalonia (Spain, Europe). It belongs to the comarca of Barcelonès (comarca capital: Barcelona) and is part of the AMB (Metropolitan Area of Barcelona). It also serves as the head of its own judicial district, being the judicial district no. 18 of the province of Barcelona.
According to INE data from 2023, it has a population of 119,862 inhabitants and an area of just 7 km². It is located only about 600 meters from the city of Barcelona (and about 9 km from the city center), the capital of Catalonia, the province of Barcelona, and the comarca of Barcelonès; this has facilitated significant population growth in this city in just a few years.
The parish church, popularly known as the Main Church (Iglesia Mayor), is dedicated to Santa Coloma de Sens; it was built between 1912 and 1915 in the city's expansion area when Santa Coloma de Gramenet was still a village of approximately 2,000 inhabitants. Its popular celebrations, known as the Summer Major Festival (Festa Major d'Estiu), are typically held from late August to early September. The Winter Major Festival (Festa Major d'Hivern) is also celebrated around late December and early January of the following year (during the Christmas season).
