Marshmallow fondue and guitar lessons

Pubblicato: 07.10.2017

I hitchhiked alone into town earlier and I felt like shit because the first three cars just ignored me 😅

The fourth one kindly picked me up. ☺️

Today was “insanely” (relatively) busy in town because there was a vintage car meeting here. 😍😍

I treated myself to pancakes and a coffee at Villa Nine. The really best, coolest and most beautiful cafe I've ever been to. I'm there almost every other day right now.

After shopping, I hitchhiked back to Holidaypark, the first one picked me up ☺️ He was a very nice guy, by the way. By the way, it's really great here hitchhiking, because as a woman you get picked up really quickly.

And now the invitation to all of you:

If you see people hitchhiking, stop and pick them up.

I don't always do it myself 🙈 but occasionally, and it always leads to nice conversations.

Afterwards we made pancakes. And yes, we're constantly eating 🙈 But we've already given up Nutella 😉

By the way, you often meet people who emigrated to New Zealand a few years ago themselves, or you meet other travelers, and very rarely people who grew up here.

Yesterday I met one in the bathroom and we talked for a while. Typical women's cliché 😁

By the way, I really like it here at Holidaypark. You meet new people every day. We just met Adam and Susu from Israel.

In the evening the two of them cooked for us and afterwards there was even a chocolate fondue with marshmallows and fruits. 😍 It's always nice to be pampered like that. Afterwards we sat in the TV room for a while and listened to them playing the guitar. Susu (by the way, I have no idea how to spell that) taught me a few chords and tried to introduce me to playing the guitar.

Today I tried for the first time to communicate with someone from Argentina with hands and feet 🙄🙄 ... it's a shame when someone hardly speaks English because I'm often interested in what the others here are doing and so on...

After taking out my map again today, I decided on my next travel destination ... Hamilton. A slightly larger city with 157,000 inhabitants.

By the way, we just met Germans again.

By the way, New Zealanders don't use Whatsapp, but mostly Snapchat. It's really difficult to communicate via Snapchat. Explanation for all the 40+ people: Snapchat is a platform through which you can send pictures, videos and messages that disappear for good after being viewed once. In other words: If you have a bad short-term memory or the other person takes hours to respond, a conversation is very complicated... 🤷‍♀️

By the way, one thing I don't like here is the polite question "How are you". Some people don't even give a response, they just start talking directly 🙄 However, at the checkout in Countdown (supermarket) it's always nice, because you really talk to each other and you are asked about your plans for the weekend, etc. Somehow nice, but it's also annoying to always have this small talk.

By the way, personally, I find it really funny that I always have completely different plans until the last minute and then go somewhere else...or do something else...

In the evening, Lea and I walked to town to go shopping and then to eat something afterwards. We decided on the Indian restaurant, or were actually forced to go there because all the others were closed...at 8 p.m. on a Sunday.

Then we went home and to bed 😊
