Arrived in Denmark

Pubblicato: 30.08.2023

August 12th (Saturday)

Today we have made a lot of progress. We drove over 500 km and ended up stranded in Aarhus on a very nice and well-kept campsite with direct access to the beach (Camp One Ajstrup Camping).

Unfortunately, Michel didn't let us sleep very long again, we were already sitting in the camper shortly before 5 and were both very tired. In the end, we were happy about the early start to the day because we didn't have any traffic jams and still had a great day.
We chose the campsite based on Google rating and location and it was a hit.

A bit higher priced, but justified for the location and amenities. As soon as we arrived, we strapped Michel into the carrier and off we went to the beach. Fortunately, the weather was much better than reported: 20 degrees and overcast, but since we have a child, I'm happy about every cloud. I'm almost terrified of sunburn (which Michel could get).
The beach is quite wide and very clean, rather busy in one direction and almost deserted in the other. An absolute dream! Sven and I both went running (one after the other, of course :D) and if we hadn't both been so hungry, we could have continued running forever. The atmosphere on the beach was almost mystical due to the hazy weather, the shallow waves and the (almost complete) desertion.

A few abandoned tents were set up on the beach and I can well imagine coming back in a few years when Michel is a little older.

Towards the evening it started to rain and we made ourselves comfortable in the campsite's communal kitchen. Here too, high praise for the cleanliness and facilities.

Michel was in a good mood the whole time, sitting in his Baby Björn rocker and watching us eat until his patience was exhausted and he was allowed to spend the last few minutes on dad's lap. Michel is always so excited about our food, I'm excited to see when we can cook the first porridge. And I'm looking forward to it.

I love sitting in the camper and listening to the rain. Since we don't want to sleep with Michel on the "upper floor", we converted the back seat into my bed for the next 3 weeks because I'm breastfeeding and it's easier for Michel and me.

It has something of a bed-like feel to it and is super cozy.

After Michel had a hard time falling asleep yesterday, today it couldn't have been any quicker. Despite the long car journey, we were able to give him enough rest periods and that is really crucial.

Now he lies next to me deeply relaxed and sometimes smacks his lips in his sleep. What does he dream about?
