What does it feel like to be the only white woman among dark-skinned people?
I'm always the 'muzungu' - the white woman here:
Today, I rode to the market with Betty in a bodaboda, which is a motorcycle taxi, for just 20 cents. Betty weighs a bit more, so it was quite cozy on the rickety motorcycle - with three seats. The roads of Uganda offer free massages when you move on them - really great.
At the market, there is everything imaginable - everything is wonderfully colorful. Fruits, vegetables, spices, fish, old junk phones, shoes, clothes. The clothes sold by the traders are generally used. The food here is simply heavenly. Between enthusiasm and a queasy feeling, I stroll through the street - many men approach me and want to see my hair under the tied turban. Of course, they all want to marry me. But I said no ;)
