Lac La Hache - Gravel Roads and Tire Change 🔧🛞

We are not dawdling with breakfast today so we can get going a bit earlier. The sun greets us as we say goodbye to Vreny and Ruedi. They are sooo sweet 🥰

Our day trip begins by circling a large part of Shuswap Lake (89km long). The legalization of cannabis is actually warmly welcomed here in some towns😅 We take the small roads today, up to Adams Lake to the north. What we then realize: It’s actually more of a gravel road 🤣 We take a lunch break by the lake with the best view of the sparkling water.

The adventure continues: After the break, our navigation fails as we no longer have internet reception. The old-fashioned way, we now drive by signs.

Then comes the low point of the day: Flat tire...🫣🫣🫣 In the middle of nowhere... no internet or phone. We’re a bit annoyed that we didn’t check the tires during the break... Well, let’s put on the spare tire. You usually do that quite often... 🫣😅 With combined efforts we manage it! #teamwork 🫶💪

Overall, the mood is slightly subdued afterwards, as it's also hard for us to get an Avis employee on the phone on a Saturday... We try later through the Check24 online service.

We manage to get back on the paved highway and continue on to Clearwater. There, we make a short stop at the Triple Decker Falls.

Continuing west, we take a short dinner break at Goose Lake. Just before the end of Highway 24, a small black bear crosses our road. That lifts the mood a bit 😊 It quickly disappears on the other side into the bushes, so unfortunately we can’t get a photo. But it seems to have been at least 2 bears, as we spot several movements 😅

Just before the red sun drops below the tree horizon, we reach Lac La Hache. The only booking accommodation of our trip - and as an exception, also including breakfast 😅

We still try to assess the spare tire situation a bit. In the next larger town, there are a few repair service stations - supposedly also open on Sundays according to Google. We will see 🙂 We click through online and reach a very helpful Check24 employee from Munich. Everything gets clarified 🙂

Feeling a bit more relieved, we enjoy a cold beer. Definitely another exciting day!😅
