πŸŒ† πŸ›₯ πŸ₯΅

We leave Agios Giorges. Before enjoying the morning swim, we realize that the water today is extremely wild and damn invading. When trying to go in, various stones hit our feet and shins, it hurts. Out of the water. Quickly save the cell phone of a sleeping (party leftover) guest and off to breakfast on the balcony.

The Corfiots - I like them very much, but when it comes to parking and driving, they are bizarre. I stop only to load the suitcase for 30 seconds and we are already admonished by the man who was behind the curtain. What was he doing there? Very annoying!

Anyway, we say goodbye to Theresa and assure her that she has an amazing accommodation and that we felt very comfortable.

Arriving in Benitses, we surprise Martha and her daughter cleaning a room. They are happy to see us again and Marina takes us ahead with the scooter to the other house, which also serves as accommodation. We drive to the old village (here only 1 car fits on the street) and arrive at Villa Grandma Martha 2.

They apologize countless times that they only have 1 shared bed (I never explicitly ordered 2 separate beds πŸ˜‚), later Dimitri comes with the bike and brings an extra 2 separate blankets. Very good, customs are respected by the Greek Orthodox...

We freshen up quickly and bring the huge vehicle back to the airport - we have used 28€ of fuel in the 4 days, I think that's fine.

From now on, we are on foot - or nicely squeezed into the blue bus, which makes it clear to us with German signage that parking shoes on the seats is not allowed ☺️.

The beautifully signposted bus is supposed to take us to Benitses - via Corfu Town. We decide to stroll around Corfu Town a bit and have the idea of already checking out where my accommodation will be from August 10th.

I am pleased to find that the Lilliput Studio is only 70 m away from the wonderful tavern where Dercia and I dined last summer - when the rain poured over us.

Well, I'm looking forward to it - so close and familiar. I stroll to a shop called "Brand of Land- Greece" (https://m.facebook.com/BrandofLand/).

These individual earrings, mugs, cards ... from Corfu impress me, the chat with the salesperson is inspiring, he knows a lot and is interested in many things.

Of course, he recommends the tavern next door to us, I also had the idea to visit there again, but they no longer serve food, as the restaurant is closed for 1 hour in the evening. Oh well, let's go somewhere else. In Greece you're never starving. And where do we end up? At Mr.Grumpy - no expression, no smile, and no extra bread.

Petra realizes: "Man, they are stingy with bread in Corfu - I should bring my own bread to the restaurant from now on." She's right. Salad is generally served without bread, if you order it for 1€, you usually only get 2 mini slices…

And I feel a little sick, yes, nauseous. I hope it's just the oil or the vegetables that are heavy in my stomach in the evening, I'd better not get sick, because tomorrow is a boat tour. Self-made...

Overnight it gets better, thank God, so we drive to the Pontikonisi Bridge, which you walk over when you want to go to the monastery and the Mouse Island. We stop briefly on the bridge and watch the incoming planes, I am fascinated by every airplane and just can't look away. And then it starts: we are greeted at Kanonihire and go directly on board for the briefing.

The cannon brother, as Petra lovingly calls him, lets me know: "who has already driven a car in Corfu can also drive a boat". Hmm, okay. Then let's have the explanations. Everything seems logical, I think I understand pretty quickly, but when I have to secure the rope after throwing the anchor, I reach my limits of imagination. But it doesn't surprise me. Trying to imitate any form usually goes wrong. It reminds me of the terrible experience when we had to make boats out of banana leaves in Lombok…

So Petra has to take over here. Later she becomes the anchor woman!

He takes a round with us and explains further, before we are ultimately allowed to go on our own. We have 8 hours. We decide to drive along the south. I get more and more familiar with the boat, Petra tries to find out exactly where we are, and then it becomes very easy. As good as no boats are on the way anyway. In a dreamlike spot, we throw anchor and jump into the cool water. The water is crystal clear and pleasantly warm.

We also decide not to anchor at a beach. Why? We have the boat for ourselves, can also sunbathe there, and there are no other souls in the water around us.

At two more spots, we jump into the water - well, go down the ladder - eat up our supplies and don't notice how hot it actually is. Wonderful (The sunburn that shows up later in the evening makes it clear to us how well we ignored the power of the sun).

I don't know the south of the island at all, but I like most of what I see. We both fell in love with Villa Aphrodite (https://www.myluxurycorfuvillas.com/). I would love to stay there for one night and pay excessively, then here β™₯️.

We travel back - quickly freshen up on the way again - and are extremely grateful for the experience. Corfu makes it beautiful and easy for us. Apparently, the buddy of the "cannon brothers" thought the same - he is German-Corfiote, lived in Hamburg for 10 years, and is now here again to enjoy the beautiful life on the island (but not just like that, he works as a roofer). Apparently, you want to come back to Corfu.

An Alster, coffee, and cola will now serve as our reward. Later we want to go out to eat - or earlier. Because the bus takes off right in front of our noses, the next bus doesn't come for 1 hour. We decide to go to the Nisos Restaurant (https://www.nisoscorfu.gr/) across the street, there we have salad and pasta for dinner.

Oh, the salad even comes with bread. Well, let's get some. But later the bill will tell us that the bread wasn't free πŸ₯΄. Great. Corfu - I love you, but I don't agree with your bread policy.

Now the bus is supposed to come at 8.05 p.m., yes or not until 8.55 p.m... who doesn't like to stand on the street on a Saturday, waiting for a crowded bus?! Well, I do β™₯️

And when there is delicious pastry waiting for us in the room, it can't be better.
