Covid in Italy

Pubblicato: 20.05.2021

I wanted to write a short note about how it was with Covid in Italy during our short stay here. It was actually quite pleasant. We were not checked or stopped at the border. In the towns, people adhere very well to the mask mandate, but at the beach or even at the campsite when there are no people around, masks are taken off. I found that very reasonable. Everyone also follows these regulations. The only sad thing for me were the children on the playgrounds wearing masks (it is required for children 6 and older in Italy). We just pretended to be silly about it.

We still had to present a PCR test for Greece and were unsure how it would work. The regulations vary depending on the province, and in Emilia Romagna, where we were at the time, you're only allowed to get a PCR test with a doctor's referral. However, it is possible to easily get a test at a private lab at your own expense, so we scheduled an appointment in a small town in Podelta, Codigoro. We had no problem getting the 'Tampone' done there and received the results very professionally by email after 24 hours. Gian was very brave and even let them swab his nostrils ;-)

We were not asked or checked for it in Greece, but for me, the requirement to have a PCR test is clear, and I would not dare to travel to Greece without one.
