This morning it was time. After going through the packing list one more time, loading everything onto my Suzi, securing it, and saying goodbye to my amazing wife, I set off around 10:30.
I had told my GPS to take me to Vejle in Denmark without using the highway. Vejle is about halfway to Hirtshals, the starting point for the ferry. So first, I drove through Hamburg in a northerly direction. The approximately 340 kilometers went smoothly. I noticed that Denmark's landscape isn't much different over the land than it is on the highway. I checked into a cabin at Vejle-Fjord-Camping, Cabin No. 1, so it's the first house in the area. Well, for one night, it's fine.
Dinner tonight was meager. A few mini meatballs, some yogurt, and a can of Tuborg. After this lavish meal, I went for a walk down to the fjord, as a little prelude to the upcoming hikes. No wind, the Baltic Sea completely calm. I enjoyed the sunset there with a cigarillo.
Now I'm sitting on the porch of my cabin, browsing a little longer, and then it's off to bed.
Tomorrow, the journey continues.
