So, it's now Saturday and tomorrow evening I'll be heading to the airport. I'm really excited about Egypt, unfortunately my Couchsurfing host had an accident, which means I'll be staying in a hostel for now! (But it only costs $3.50 per night, so no problem at all :)
Two days ago, I returned from Fort Portal and I have to admit that the journey back was a bit more exhausting (I'm getting old) and I was completely exhausted when I finally arrived after 5 hours in the evening. I stayed in my huge apartment, which I actually got again (still only for $12 per night), cooked and did laundry... it took forever and was so tiring!
Yesterday, I finally went for waxing - girls, it still hurts the second time! - and treated myself to a back-neck massage for ten bucks. I think massages are totally underrated! I believe the nice lady released tensions that had built up over the years, it really hurt. Plus, the whole experience is totally meditative and you mainly focus on all the sensations or completely zone out. So, people, treat yourselves to a massage every now and then or guys/girls: occasionally massage your girlfriend/boyfriend!
Then in the evening, my Danish friend Cecilie unexpectedly contacted me and spontaneously asked if I wanted to go to a festival at the National Theatre! Of course, a half hour later I was there and it was so cool :) a really nice conclusion to my time in Uganda. There were many craft stands, two main stages outside, and one stage inside. Lots of snacks and drinks and lots of people. Later, a DJ played a crazy electronic music set on one stage, so I danced alone in front of the stage (story of my life hahah) and on the other stage, there were rappers from all over Africa and it was actually really nice! BUT I also know that you should leave when it's the most beautiful, so I left relatively early and had a very nice boda driver.
Today, I might meet Cecilie again for a farewell, and tomorrow hopefully I'll meet my Egyptian friend Hicham (who might join me to the airport and help me out in Cairo!)
In the next few days, I'll write a kind of retrospective closing report about my time in Uganda, stay tuned!
Until then, wish me a good flight - I'll be flying to Cairo at 4 am on Monday morning with Egyptair.
As always, sending you lots of love!
