I can't believe it's already been a week since I arrived here! Time flies. At the beginning of the week, I was still struggling with jet lag. Fortunately, that has now settled. In the first few days, I was staying with my sister's family. She explained the daily routine to me and showed me around the house. I take care of 3-year-old Shevy and 6-year-old Jett. Jett is autistic.
My day generally looks like this: From 10 am, I take care of the kids and the household. So we eat, play, do crafts, and just have fun. This week, for example, we had a 'snowstorm' of flour and water on the terrace :D. We also wanted to make footprints on paper. In the end, there was color everywhere except on the paper. I also do laundry and take care of the dishes.
The time until 6 pm usually flies by, the kids are bursting with ideas and energy! From 6 pm, the parents take over and I can relax in my room until dinner time. In the evenings, we usually sit together and have a cozy chat.
This weekend, I worked partly. On Saturday afternoon, I went to the nearby shopping center for orientation (it's huuuuuge) and took a walk around the neighborhood.
Today, we took the kids for a drive and visited the most beautiful places in the area. Unfortunately, it was raining, but I think I will go exploring again soon and then share the beautiful pictures.
One thing I would like to mention is that many things here remind me of South Africa! The traffic lights, the plants, some of the food, the fact that the stores are open on Sundays, the small talk at the checkout, and the left-hand traffic.
