From now on I'm traveling alone... The first 2 days I spent in the capital of Colombia, Bogota. My hostel was located in the relatively safe neighborhood of Chapinero, with many restaurants and shops. Since Bogota is generally considered not completely safe, I was glad to have met Annemiek from Holland in the hostel and explore the city with her. From the Montserrate mountain, you had a great view over the whole city, and it's really huge. We chose the easy option and took the cable car up.
During the guided but free walking tour and graffiti tour in the historic La Candelaria district, we learned a lot about the history of Bogota and Colombia in general.
From Bogota, I continued with Annemiek by bus to the beautiful colonial town of Villa de Leyva. My accommodation in an old villa with a huge garden (hot tub, sauna, hammocks, chapel...) and a view of the surrounding mountains is really a dream. We spent the days simply strolling through the beautiful streets and watching the game against England together with the Colombians.
